Companions and Service Dogs
Persons who are accompanying handicapped visitors have free entrance to the museum and doesn’t have to show a membership card of The Invalid Organizations’ Cosumer Service. Service dogs are welcome.
Please note: If you are accompanying a wheelchair user, it is not necessary to show a companion card.
It may happen that access to some exhibitions requires assistance. If you are without a companion, the guards will be happy to help.
Mobility Impaired / Cane Users
Access to SMK is available for guests using a standard cane. It is possible to borrow a cane and wheelchair at the museum.
Please note: Wheelchairs cannot be reserved.
Wheelchair Access
The entire museum is accessible with electric and manual wheelchairs.
Manual wheelchairs are also available for loan at the museum. These can be collected from the guard in the foyer.

Wheelchair access is via the group entrance to the left of the stairs leading to the main entrance.
Need help opening the door? Continue around the courtyard to the left. On the right side, you will find a button for assistance.
Parking
To enter the parking space in front of the museum you have to use the driveway at Øster Voldgade. Use the intercom to get access. When you wish to leave the museum you have to use the egress at Sølvgade. Slowly drive toward the bullard which will be lowered automatically.
Toilets
Accessible toilets are located in the museum’s basement in both the new and old buildings.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
SMK offers the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard free of charge to people with invisible disabilities. Ask for it at the information desk. Both front staff and guards are aware of Sunflower wearers.
Prefer a Quiet Visit?
If you prefer a quiet visit, we recommend coming between 4.00 pm and 6.00 pm (including weekends). Please note that many school groups visit SMK on weekdays before 2.00 pm.

Statens Museum for Kunst has joined the Accessibility Label scheme.
